The Old Farm School bell tolled daily in the morning, at
noon and afternoon as well as for public functions and funerals and notifying residents of fire.Completed in 1796, this building was in continuous use
as a school until 1921, without benefit of indoor plumbing or electricity. Original desks and seats remain on the second
floor. The building, located today at
the corner of Park Avenue and School Street, has been on the National Register of Historic
Places since 1972.Tonight’s program
includes a 16 minute film about the schoolhouse history and a talk about the
history of schools in early Bloomfield.The film was made by Ralph Schmoll who will facilitate tonight’s
