Vermeer in America, Film & Conversation with Jack Brin

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Prosser Library
Community Room

Event Details

Today’s film, hosted by Charlie Rose, deals with a past exhibition at the National Gallery of 21 paintings by Johannes Vermeer. His work is the rarest among great artists, as there are only 35 known paintings of his in existence. Little is known about the man. The film and book, Girl with a Pearl Earring is a wonderful construction of the creation of Vermeer’s painting of the same name. Outside of his View of Delft, most of Vermeer’s scenes are indoor portraits with a single window as a light source. A 4-minute encore of three paintings titled Lady at a Virginal will be accompanied by harpsichord music.

Join art and music enthusiast Jack Brin for a series of presentations on art and artists at Prosser Public Library in on selected Tuesdays at 1:00 PM. Each film screening will be followed by conversation about the particular artist or time period.
