Historical and Contemporary Voter Suppression: Navigating Politics and Acting Locally

This session will include a screening and discussion of the 27 minute documentary Voting Matters. 
Discussion will be led by Dr. Staggers.  Current attempts to suppress racial minority voters will be
addressed and resources to support citizens who are interested in getting involved in politics will be
provided.

Dr. Staggers is a social researcher and skilled facilitator in the areas of health inequities, social inequality, and race and racism.  She holds a doctorate in Medical Sociology and Race, Class and Gender Studies from Howard University, and a Master of Public Health from New York University.  CHEER Institute & CHEER Consulting  Group is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating health inequities through community building; community engagement; and diversity, equity and inclusion training
