Gardens in Literature:
Some musings about what many English murder mysteries and children's books have in common.    A gardener and an anthropologist, Jane Nadel-Klein  is also a rather fanatical reader of both genres and has noted that gardens often loom large in each.

Jane is Professor of Anthropology at Trinity College in Hartford, where she teaches courses on Gender, British Society, the Meaning of Work and the Anthropology of Place.   She is also a long-time resident of Bloomfield.   She received her A.B. in Anthropology from Barnard College and her Ph.D. from the City University of New York.    She has done field research in England, Scotland, Australia and the United States.    Her last book, on the changes in coastal Scottish society, was called Fishing For Heritage (Berg 2003).    Her current project is a book in progress, to be called Grounded: Seeing Culture Through Horticulture.

This event co-sponsored by the library and the Dun-Land-Woods Garden Club of Bloomfield.    Registration is appreciated.
