Event Details

Today Meet Matthew Jaskot, a composer and a pianist originally from Middletown CT.  His music has been 
performed nationally and internationally, at a variety of festivals and conferences hosted by the Society of Composers, the College Music Society, and others.  He holds a DMA and MM in Composition from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he also was the artistic director of TEMPO, a student run new music ensemble.  He also holds a BA in Music from the College of the Holy Cross, where he currently serves on the faculty, teaching music theory and composition.

John Persen was a Norwegian composer. In 1968, he began his study of music in Oslo. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Norwegian State Academy of Music, the Music Information Centre Norway (Music Norway´s 
predecessor) and the Ultima Festival of Contemporary Music.  As a composer, Persen created monumental orchestral works such as his majestic Over Cross and Crown, a work that depicts the Kautokeino uprising in 1852 – a revolt among the Sami population.
